Junior sailing 2020

SGBA's 2020 Junior Sailing finally got underway on Tuesday 28th July. The young sailors had been waiting since initially booking in February for the May course which had to be postponed because of the Covid-19 restrictions. They had to wait an extra day as Monday's strong winds forced the cancellation of the first day. At last, on Tuesday morning 12 Level 3 and 4 candidates were afloat. Unfortunately it was not possible to organise Level 11 and 2 courses because of the continuing restrictions. The rest of the week was blessed with favourable weather, fine and sunny with moderate breezes on Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday, followed by a stronger breeze on Friday to test the acquired skills. Thanks to River Lovejoy for keeping the fleet sailing with running repairs each day. Thanks to our wonderful team of instructors, Pete Joscelyne. Will Howitt, Charlie Gillmore and Thomas Leah, their young assistants, safety boat helms, parent helpers and most of all Sam Simmons for her organisation. Prize winners this year were:
- Group A Level 3 Girls Amelie Hammond
- Group B Level 3 Boys Ezra Williams
- Group C Level 4 Alexander Ringsmith
