Hot on the tail of Storm Ciara, Stoke Gabriel's answer to Michael Fish, Anne Davis, came to give her Weather Insights at the Old Schoolroom last Thursday the 13th.
As an accomplished offshore skipper, Anne has plainly taken her weather knowledge to a greater depth. During her talk, Anne introduced us to the Coriolis force and then carefully walked us through the major factors influencing our weather patterns, taking the group to a new level of understanding.
Aware that there is only so much science we can deal with on a Thursday evening, Anne went on to share some of her stunning photographs of clouds and cloud formations, not only supporting an understanding of weather phenomena but also celebrating the breathtaking beauty of sights she has seen on her voyages.
For our next event we will entertain members of the Brixham RNLI team at The RiverShack when you can bring your lifejacket for checking, You'll hear about the work of the brave lifeboat crews as well as tips and advice to keep you safe on the water. All this in a convivial environment with bar and winter warming fare available.
