Here at the SGBA, we're enthusiastic about preserving the natural environment of our river. For that reason, we'd like to bring your attention to new work being done by the Friends of the River Dart organisation, who are conducting survey work into how people like us interact with the Dart.

Friends of the River Dart is undertaking a comprehensive study of community use of the river, as part of an ongoing campaign to preserve the Dart's environment and water quality. The organisation relies on people like us, who regularly interact with the Dart, to log our use of the river in order to help these campaigns.

There are two surveys you can fill out, both found on the Friends of the River Dart's website (www.friendsofthedart.org). You can fill out the 'River use survey', a one-time questionnaire detailing how you use the river and surrounding environment. This survey will run until September 2023.

You can also use the website to log each time you, or someone else, comes into contact with the Dart's water. This includes swimming, paddling, and wading (i.e. to launch boats).

If you'd like to get further involved, you can visit the 'Take Action' section of their website to see opportunities to volunteer or donate.
